The Thirteenth Doctor's Costume and TARDIS Revealed.

Just yesterday, the BBC released a new image of Jodie Whittaker as the new Doctor, displaying her new costume. The costume consists of a navy blue top with a rainbow stripe on the chest, a pair of light blue, high- waisted calf-length trousers -- held up by mustard yellow suspenders (called braces in the U.K.) -- a long, gray trench coat, and brown boots.
As far as I can tell, the costume is an amalgamation of homages to former Doctors. The stripes on the her top are similar to those on the Fourth Doctor's (Tom Baker) infamous scarf; the braces and boots are a nod to Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor; the high-wasted trousers are reminiscent of Patrick Troughton's Second Doctor's high-waisted checkered trousers; the coat is a similar color to Sylvester MCCoy's Seventh Doctor's, while the length and style is similar to the one worn by David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor.
The initial fan reactions on Facebook were mixed. Some felt that the suspenders reminded them of those worn by Robin Williams on "Mork and Mindy," while others criticized the costume as looking like a clown costume.
Radio Times did a survey of over 19,000 of it's readers on whether or not they liked the new Doctor's costume: 73.69 % liked it, while 26.31% disliked it.
The Doctor isn't the only character getting a makeover. The TARDIS -- the Time Lord's omnipotent time machine -- is also getting a new look. The current TARDIS exterior is a bright blue with a St. Johns Ambulance sticker on the door; the sign on the door is white with black text. The new TARDIS will be a lighter, more distressed blue, without the St. Johns Ambulance Sticker; the new sign will be black with white text.
The same survey done by Radio Times also showed that 82.81 % of the participants liked the new distressed blue look, whole 17.19% didn't; also that 51.57% favored the black sign with white font, while 48.43% preferred the white sign with black text.
Personally, I think the costume is pretty cool. I like the subtle nods to past Doctors and the random, thrown together look of the ensemble. To me, it looks how a person would dress if they were used to dressing as a man and suddenly had to figure out how to dress as a woman. I think the costume fits in well with the Doctor's schizophrenic dress sense -- celery stalks, question mark sweaters, rainbow coats, 24 foot long scarves -- while still being fresh and unique. Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker agreed on Twitter, replying to the BBC's official Tweet, "Love it. Great look. Can't wait."
