Murder on the Orient Express

The feature film adaption of Agatha Christie's classic novel hit theaters on November 10th. Less than a week into its run, it has already earned $89.8 million at the box office.
The film stars and is directed by the talented Kenneth Branagh. The ensemble cast also includes: Daisy Ridley, Josh Gad, Michelle Pfeiffer, Leslie Odom Jr., Dame Judi Dench, Sir Derek Jacobi, Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, and Johnny Depp.
On the second night of a three journey the Orient Express, Mr. Ratchett (Johnny Depp) is killed in his locked compartment. Luckily, world renowned investigator Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) is present and agrees to help his friend M. Bouc find the killer amongst the twelve passengers. As tension boils and evidence slowly comes to light, Poirot faces an outcome than not even he was prepared for.
The movie was fantastic. The acting across the board was great, but Kenneth Branagh and Michelle Pfeiffer really stood out. The scenery and sets are beautifully done, and the cinematography is exemplary -- excluding a few odd angles that had a mirror effect.
I read the book -- devoured, more like -- first and was not disapppinted. The film fleshes out the plot and makes the characters more three dimensional than on the page. Added plotpoints and plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat.
If you are a fan of murder mysteries or just want to see a good movie, check it out. You won't be disappointed!
Branagh has reported that he is willing to do more film adaptions of Christie's works if this film does well.
