The Doctor's New Companion...s.

Series 11 of the hit BBC sci fi series Doctor Who is set to air in the fall of 2018. It will be a big series for the long running show; for starters, for the first time ever, the Doctor will be played by a woman (Jodie Whittacker from Broadchurch.) New showrunner Chris Chibnall (creator of Broadchurch has announced that the new series will run for fewer episodes -- 10 instead of the traditional 12 -- but that those episodes will clock in at 50 minutes per episode. The series opener will have a a run-time of an hour. It is also rumored that the new series will be filmed in a more cinematic way than previous series.
British actor Chris Marshall was at the forefront for the casting of the new Doctor; when Jodie Whittaker was cast as the Thirteenth Doctor, Marshall was rumored to be starring as the new companion.
It has been announced that the Doctor won't be getting just one new companion, but three! Bradley Walsh has been cast as a character called Graham, who will be joined by Tosin Cole as Ryan and Mandip Gill as Yasmine.
Initial fan reactions were once again negative, with fans accusing the show of being "too PC" again by casting two minority companions, and complaining that the TARDIS would be too crowded with three companions.
Just a friendly reminder: when Doctor Whofirst aired in 1963, the First Doctor (William Hartnell) waz joined by thee companions: Susan (Carole Ann Ford,) Ian Chesterton (William Russell,) and Barbara Wright (Jacqueline Hill.) Since then the Doctor has generally travelled with a single companion, rarely two, with the exception of the end of the Fourth Doctor's (Tom Baker) reign and beginning of the Fifth Doctor's (Peter Davison) when the Doctor travelled with Tegan (Janet Fielding,) Nyssa (Sarah Sutton,) and Adric (Matthew Waterhouse.)
Personally, I feel like the fans are looking for any reason to complain. They don't want a female Doctor, so they're going to bitch and moan about everything. Well, guess what? It's not going to change anything! At least watch a few episodes before forming an opinion.
