Jawbreaker

I remember being 8 or 9 and wanting to watch this movie --mainly because I liked the song featured in the trailer. I finally got to watch it almost a decade later and fell in love with it.
The dark comedy/satire tells the story of three friends (Rose McGowan, Julie Benz, and Rebecca Gayheart) who prank their bestie Liz Purr for her bithday by staging a kidnapping of the sleeping teen. Rose McGowan shoves a jawbreaker into Liz's mouth before it is taped to keep her quiet. The three friends are shocked when they open the trunk to find Liz dead -- the jawbreaker stuck in her throat. In a panic, they decide to cover up Liz's death. Cunning and betrayal follow.
I recently watched the movie again for the first time in a decade or so, and was glad that it lived up to my memory of it. Rose McGowan plays the bitchy mean girl to perfection, Julie Benz is hilarious as the sterotypical airhead blonde, and Rebecca Gayheart is the glue that holds it all together.
Carol Kane gives a great performace as the dingy principal, and it was refeshing to see Pam Grier in something besides "The L Word," where her main function was to be the stereotypical black woman, saying "Gurl," every five seconds.
If you're in the mood for a good satire or are just a fan of Rose McGowan you should definitely check this movie out.
