Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!

When Mamma Mia! the Movie was released in the summer of 2008, it became a commercial success. Earning $602.6 million at the box office, it was the highest grossing live action musical of all time (until the live action adaption of "Beauty and the Beast" in 2017, and the hughst grossing female directed movie (Patty Jenkins' "Wonder Woman" surpassed it in 2017.) It held the record for the highest grossing musical adaption of a Broadway musical (beating out 2007's "Hairspray") until "Into the Woods" was released in 2014.
The film -- a jukebox musical using songs from Abba -- tells the story of a woman who wants her father to walk her down the aisle; the only problem is that she has three possible fathers.
Since its release almost a decade ago, rumors have whirled about a possible sequel. In the summer of 2017, these rumors were proven true.
​"Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" is scheduled to be released on July 20th, 2018. Ol Parker will wrote and direct.
Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried, Stellan Skarsgård, Christine Baranksi, Colin Firth, Julie Walters, and Dominic Cooper are all set to reprise their roles. New comers include Lily James (Young Donna), Jeremy Irvine (Young Sam), Hugh Skinner (Young Harry), Jessica Keenan Wynn (Young Tanya), Alexa Daviea (Young Rosie), and Josh Dylan (Young Bill
) Cher (a close friend of Meryl Streep's) will make guest star as Donna's mother.
There is no news yet as to the plot or which Abba songs will be used.
I have been anxiously awaiting this sequel for 9 years! I loved the first one and have no doubt that the sequel will be just as good.
