THAT Leia Scene in 'The Last Jedi.'

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!
The latest installment in the Star Wars saga, entitled The Last Jedi hit US theaters last Thursday for late showings and has already been a massive Box Office hit, raking in $20 million in five days. Criticial reception has been mostly positive, garnering 3.5/4, 4/4, and 4/5 ratings. The film currently has a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
I've seen the film discussed in many threads on Facebook -- mostly positive -- but the majority of negative comments I've seen focus on one scene in particular.
General Leia Organa and her band of rebels are aboard their ship, fleeing for their lives, when a First Order ship shoots and destroys the bridge. Leia -- along with the other Rebel Alliance leaders -- is sucked out into space and presumably killed. However, a few scenes later, we see Leia floating in space, unconscious or dead. Then, her fingers move, her eyes open, and she uses The Force to pull herself back into the ship, where she then passes out.
I've seen fans criticizing this scene, saying that it too unbelievable, likening it to Anime, claiming it was too over the top.
Okay. Anyone who has seen the previous films knows that Luke is not the only Skywalker with the Force. Leia also has it, or at least is Force sensitive, as she can sense Luke's survival in Return of the Jedi, Han Solo's death in The Force Awakens, and her son's presence in The Last Jedi.
From the end of the original trilogy until the last few years, a series of books were published detailing what happened to our heroes after Return of the Jedi. This series was known as the Expanded Universe, but has now been rebranded The Legends Series. In this series, Leia trains as a Jedi and has twins with Han Solo -- Jacen and Jaina, as well as a son, Anakin Solo. With Disney's procurement of the franchise, this series has been rendered non-cannonical, yet the Disney series parallels the Legends Series a scosh: Han and Leia's son does turn evil, but he becomes Darth Caedus. Luke and Mara Jade have a son named Ben Skywalker (Kylo Ren's real name is Ben Solo.)
It was revealed that when The Force Awakens was being written, Carrie Fisher had the final say in whether this Leia would be a Jedi or not. Fisher felt that it was more true to the character for Leia to pursue her political career instead of training as a Jedi. She felt her skills were better suited in the governmental platform. It was a choice of Leia's not to hone her skills with The Force. So, there you have it, from Leia's own mouth!
Here's my two cents on the scene: when Leia is sucked out into space her subconscious kicks into survival mode -- just like when people lift cars to save a child or loved one -- and she tapped into something she had always had in her, but had not really explored. Simple as that.
As far as I'm concerned, the people criticizing this scene are too dense to really grasp the bigger picture. It's science fiction for crying out loud! None of it plausible!
