Rose McGowan: Champion for the Downtrodden or Hypocrite?

Recently, I've seen people criticizing Rose McGowan online. They're calling her a hypocrite for condemning Harvey Weinstein for sexual harassment and rape and yet not doing so with Victor Salva, the director of the 2011 film "Rosewood Lane" in which Rose starred. Now, some back story on Salva: while he's mostly known now for directing the "Jeepers Creepers" trilogy, in 1988 he was known for a real life horror movie. 29 years ago, the director got himself into trouble when a 12 year old actor in the film "Clownhouse" alleged that Salva had molested him. Upon investigation of the director's home, police found child pornography and a video of one of Salva's sexual encounters with the child; after a plea of guilty to "lewd and lascivious conduct, oral sex with a person under 14, and procuring a child for pornography," Salva was sentenced to 3 years in a state prison, though he only served 15 months of the sentence. He completed parole in 1992.
In 2011, McGowan was interviewed about working on "Rosewood Lane." This is what she had to say about Victor Salva: "I still don’t really understand the whole story or history there, and I’d rather not, because it’s not really my business. But he’s an incredibly sweet and gentle man."
Do you think Rose is a hypocrite? Personally, I feel that although what Salva did was unimaginably wrong, he has paid his debt to society -- and has not to the best of anyone's knowledge repeated his heinous acts -- while Weinstein has yet to pay for his alleged crimes. In a situation like this should someone who sexually assaults another person be condemned for life, or do they get a chance to atone for the sins of the past?
